Smoking out the military zone on a cliff edge. For Project Cetina, the brief took us nearly to the peak of Dinara Mountain, deep inside a military training ground where only specialized 4×4 vehicles and drivers with nerves of steel could navigate. To capture spectacular frames, we were operating on the very edge of steep cliffs, battling high altitudes, and – to create the perfect atmosphere – we literally smoked out an entire forest. Because speed was survival, we stripped down to a hyper-mobile skeleton crew to squeeze dozens of epic setups into a single, relentless day. But the real masterstroke of our production design wasn’t just the atmosphere; it was the arithmetic. To align the agency, client, and crew with the brutal reality that only 40% of the day would be spent rolling film – while the remaining 60% belonged to treacherous transport and hardcore prep – we created and presented literal pie charts. We kept the communication transparent, the driving precise, and proved once again that when it comes to extreme peaks and military-grade constraints, Vertigo always finds the perfect angle.
